Dr. Lynn Tedrow

Dr. Lynn Tedrow grew up in Rapid City, SD.  She received her undergraduate degree in animal science from SDSU in 1998, and her DVM from Iowa State University in 2002.  After graduation, she pursued an equine internship in medicine and surgery in Sheridan, WY for one year.  She and her husband, Todd (also a veterinarian), then moved to Ashley, ND, where they worked at a mixed animal practice for three years.  They moved to Fort Pierre in 2005 and Lynn started working with the Animal Clinic of Pierre in 2009.  She has special interest in small animal surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine.

They have two daughters, Sydney and Breanna, who keep them busy with activities.  Dr. Tedrow enjoys riding her horses, fishing, and just spending time outdoors.  They also have 3 dogs (Raye, Eddie, and Clover) and some barn kitties.

Dr. Christina Fischer

Dr. Christina Fischer graduated from Iowa State University in 2004 and her career has primarily focused on companion animal medicine and surgery working in North and South Dakota with a shorter venture to Kansas City, MO.  She also has experience in emergency medicine, shelter medicine, zoo medicine, and working at a referral center.  She recently moved back to Pierre and rejoined the Animal Clinic of Pierre in May of 2018 and is the new owner of the practice as of May 1, 2021.  Her professional interests include feline medicine, dentistry, soft tissue surgery and emergency care.  Her family consists of her husband, Rory, twin daughters, Madi and Grace, 2 dogs (Ozzie and Penny), 4 cats (Peaches, Skippyjon Jones, Pete the Cat, and Tater).  Beyond veterinary medicine, Dr. Fischer enjoys spending time with her family, reading, photography, traveling and being creative.

Dr. Lisa Stanley

Dr. Lisa Stanley grew up in upstate New York and Massachusetts.  She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard University in 1998, and her DVM from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine (Massachusetts) in 2002. Since graduation she has worked in small animal practice in Ashford, CT, Denver and Littleton, CO and emergency medicine in Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Stanley moved to Pierre with her husband in 2009.  She has special interest in small animal internal medicine, feline medicine and dentistry. 

Dr. Stanley and her husband, Dr. Chris Stanley have two children and three orange tabby cats, a mini golden doodle, chickens and numerous ducks. Outside of the clinic she enjoys water sports, downhill skiing, fishing, cooking and singing with “Surprise Package” and her church praise team. Dr. Stanley also volunteers and serves on boards for various organizations including Rotary, PEO, SD Board of Social Work, and the SD Veterinary Association.

Dr. Andrea Maahs

Dr. Andrea Maahs grew up in Ames, Iowa on a hobby farm. She received her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Cedarville University in Ohio and graduated from Iowa State University in 2022 with her DVM. Dr. Andrea then moved to Pierre after getting married in May. She enjoys working with a variety of animals from cats and dogs to exotics and pocket pets, as well as backyard pets.

Dr. Andrea and her husband, Brandon, love exploring the outdoors together. They enjoy traveling to visit family as well as hiking and camping. Dr. Andrea enjoys baking and running in her free time. At home they have 2 dogs, Blazer and Ivy.

Meet Our Veterinary Assistants

Kori Coldsmith grew up in Pierre, SD. She graduated from SDSU in 2018 with a Bachelors in Animal Science with an emphasis in Biology and Animal Health and is currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician Program through Penn Foster. She has special interests in feline medicine and acts as the Pound Coordinator working with the city and locals rescues for helping find homes for local stray animals. Kori spends her free time riding her horse Boo and snuggling her three cats, Hazel, Luna, Zoey and pitbull Duke.

Megan Onken is originally from Platte, SD and moved here after graduating from Concordia University NE in 2016 with a Bachelors in Organismal Biology and minor in Chemistry. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program through Penn Foster. Her special interests are in emergency medicine, anesthesia, and canine behavior. She and her husband, Blake, enjoy spending time outside hunting, fishing, camping, and snowboarding. At home, they have two blue heelers, Maggie and Moxxi, and one pointer lab, Creedmoor. 

Clare Schwarz moved to Pierre in 2010 and is originally from the UK. Her wide variety of skills and life experiences makes her an integral part of the team. She is mother to three children and enjoys being involved in their many school activities. Clare and her husband, Matt, enjoy spending time together fishing, gardening, and relaxing at home with their four Springer Spaniels, one rescue dog, ferret and rabbit. 

Olivia Schmidt grew up in Pierre, SD. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program through Penn Foster. Her special interests are in canine medicine and urgent care. She is married to Lucas Schmidt, and they have three dogs Thor, Drax, Cece and three cats Loki, Bucky and Ferguson most of which are rescues. She enjoys spending her free time taking her dogs on adventures, reading a good book with a cat on her lap and photography. 

Meet Our Support Staff   

Kelly Jo Spotted Bear moved to Pierre in 2019.  She greets clients with a huge smile and enjoys helping and comforting clients and our patients. Although she doesn't have any of her own pets, she loves spending time with her friend's husky, Rosalie, and two cats, Lucy and Sebastian. In her free time Kelly enjoys beading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Amanda Tafoya is originally from Arizona but moved to the area in 2011. Amanda is married to Steve and has five children.  She started in January 2024, and you will see her at the front desk assisting you and your pet. In her spare time, she enjoys crafts, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family.  Amanda has four dogs: Dixie, Duke, Hank and Kenzo.

Hannah Maritz grew up in Pierre, SD and is currently a senior in high school. She has two dogs named Ash and Cora, and two horses named Zero and Marv. Hannah works part time as a Kennel Attendant ensuring the animals are safe and happy while they're at our clinic. In her spare time she participates in 4-H rodeo and enjoys baking and reading.

Elizabeth Heath was born in Pierre, but grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She met her husband, Tim while attending NSU and they have 5 kids, 2 grandkids, 2 dogs and 1 cat.  Elizabeth is the clinic manager at the clinic and also helps at the reception desk. She enjoys spending time with her husband and grandkids and is an avid reader.
